Dual Credit vs Enrollment

DUAL CREDIT

Dual Credit courses are offered in conjunction with the City Colleges of Chicago. Qualified students can take classes at Von Steuben to earn both high school and college credit, as long as a grade of C or higher is earned.
 
To qualify for these courses, students must earn the following scores on either the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) placement exams or the SAT. 

Math 140 (College Algebra)
CCC Math exam: 46+
SAT Math section: 530+

Math 143 (Pre-Calculus)
CCC Math exam: 46+
SAT Math section: 530+

English 101
CCC English exam: 6
SAT English section: 540+

Humanities 201
CCC English exam: 6
SAT English section: 540+

DUAL ENROLLMENT

Dual Enrollment courses are offered at the City Colleges of Chicago. Qualified students can take a free class at a City College campus after school, on the weekends, or during the summer to earn high school and college credit for approved classes, as long as a grade of C or higher is earned.
 
To participate in Dual Enrollment, students must meet the following requirements:
  • Junior or senior status (students can begin DE courses the summer after 10th grade)
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Minimum 90% attendance rate
  • Qualifying SAT or CCC placement exam score, depending on the course requirements
  • Completed Early College online application
  • Completed enrollment forms

Interested students should work with their counselor to complete enrollment steps. 
 
Please note: Students who take a Dual Credit/Enrollment course and earn less than a C or drop the course are not eligible for future Dual Credit/Enrollment courses.
