2010 Black History Month Essay Competition
All Chicago Public School students enrolled in grades 9-12 are invited to participate in this exciting essay competition highlighting their creative writing and research skills. Completed essays are due in Central Office by February 19, 2010.
Students:
- Grand Prizes: Laptop computers and printers will be awarded to the four (4) students writing the grand prize essays in each of grades 9 through 12.
- Second Place Prizes: Digital cameras and photo printers will be awarded to the four (4) students writing the second place essays in each of grades 9 through 12.
- Scholarships: A $5000 Roosevelt University scholarships will be awarded to each of the four Grand Prize winning students. Recipients will hold rights to their scholarships until they graduate high school. Students using the scholarship must meet Roosevelt University admission criteria.
Schools & Teachers:
- Four (4) $500 cash prizes awarded for professional development for the schools sending in the greatest number of essays.
- Eight (8) $100 gift cards awarded to teachers of the grand prize and second place winners.
The winners and their families, principals and teachers will be invited to an awards banquet.
